Options

Moving into KS4 and the options process for our Y9 students.

Our young people in Year 9 will soon be entering Key Stage 4 where they will begin a two-year programme of study that will lead to a range of qualifications at Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent).

Much of the curriculum is compulsory but there is an element of choice which means our students can shape their own programme of learning to relate to their own interests, future education plans and career aspirations. We offer a diverse range of subjects to cater to your interests and aspirations.

This part of our website will give you all the information you need about the different subjects available to you, how the subjects will be assessed over Year 10 and Year 11 and give you some ideas of your next steps.
Alongside this you will be …
  • having an assembly to introduce you to the process and give you your Options booklet.
  • having a Progress/Options evening on the 16th January for you to come and talk with subject areas with your parents/carers.
  • having small group meetings with Mrs Pemberton, a more bespoke careers meeting.
  • looking at KS4 qualifications, careers and post 16 options in your PD sessions.
  • offered drop in session with Mrs Sleaford and Mrs Godbehere on the 22nd January 2025.
Don’t…
  • Pick a subject because of the teacher (they may not teach you next year)
  • Pick a subject because of your friends (they may not be in your class)
Do…
  • Pick a subject because it is needed for progression after Year 11
  • Pick a subject because you enjoy it
  • Pick a subject because you are successful at it
  • Think about how you prefer to work, coursework or exams
