A warm welcome to The Birley Academy!

I am very proud to be the Headteacher of The Birley Academy and feel honoured and privileged to be able to work with our pupils, parents, carers, colleagues and community to be a part of the team who are making Birley Academy a brilliant place to learn and work.

I am passionate about working with our staff in school, and with colleagues across L.E.A.D. Academy Trust to ensure that the education that we provide to our pupils is of the highest quality, studying a broad range of subjects complemented by a clear personal development and wider curriculum offer.

I don’t have a complicated view of what makes a brilliant school and I aim to keep things simple. At Birley, I will ensure that we keep focussed on maintaining a calm and orderly environment, having expectations of exceptional attendance, delivering the highest academic standards and encouraging every student to fulfil their potential in whichever areas their talents and interests may lie. Our pupils are brilliant young people and they deserve every opportunity to nurture and showcase their skills.

We have our five core values of Respect, Kindness, Courage, Integrity and Ambition – and as Headteacher I want to see every one of our pupils and staff demonstrate these each day – with recognition for those who regularly go above and beyond for our community.

Most importantly, as a parent myself, I recognise the huge responsibility that schools have to provide for the young people in our care and will do all that I can to make sure that every single pupil at The Birley Academy continues to be valued and cherished as an individual, and feels safe and supported in our school.

I look forward to sharing positive news with you on a regular basis and making The Birley Academy the school of choice in our region of Sheffield. I will share regular updates on our website, social media, and through Headteacher bulletins, and I look forward to meeting our parents, carers and the wider community at parents’ evenings and celebrations, performances and sporting events.

I do hope that the website gives you an insight into our school, and warmly invite visitors to our website to get in touch with us should you require any further information or would like to arrange a visit to our very wonderful school to see how we are #makingBirleybrilliant!

Kind regards

Mrs Victoria Hall

Headteacher

What if they have PE 1st period, are sweating and then have to smell like sweat all day? 🥴 slightly unhygienic no?

Do they still need to wear blazers?

Does this include if people have after school rounders match after school

YEAR 11!
Tomorrow is the start of your ‘main’ exam series. A culmination of 11 years of compulsory education!

You have been working with your teachers to prepare for these for months, showing your dedication, #ambition and resilience daily with attending P6 and Saturday school, being #LockedIn to your studies and demonstrating just what wonderful young adults you have become.

On Friday we clapped you out of school with the Guard of Honour from all your teachers, knowing #youvegotthis!

Today, make sure you do something that helps you feel calm and relaxed – exercise, meeting friends, reading a book, spending time with family and/or pets! Whatever helps you feel calm and grounded (and yes, I know for some of you that will mean doing a last bit of revision) but your exams are not everything about you.

How you have grown up, matured, the compassionate, kind, respectful and courageous young people you are cannot be measured by an exam paper.😍

Have a restful and relaxing day Year 11. 😎
WE’VE GOT THIS. Just be yourself and you’ll be #birleybrilliant 🤩

See you tomorrow, and make sure you’re in school for 8:20am!⏰
