Hello, and welcome to The Birley Academy website! My name is Arvand Ahmad, and I am honored to serve as the Head Student for this academic year. As a Year 10 student, I was elected by my peers during our whole school election, and I am truly grateful for the trust and support shown by the student body. This role is an incredible opportunity to contribute positively to our school community, and I am excited to work alongside the fantastic Student Leadership Team.
Our Student Leadership Team is composed of dedicated individuals who oversee various areas of student life. I am supported by three Deputy Head Students: Tensi Calvert (Year 11), who manages the ‘Care’ councils, including Anti-Bullying, Charity, and Wellbeing; Zhi Chew (Year 10) who oversees the ‘Values’ councils, such as Justice, Environment, and Culture; and Aaminah Imran (Year 11) who leads the ‘Learning’ councils, focusing on Arts, Science and Technology, and Education. Together, we strive to ensure that every student has a voice and feels empowered to make a difference.
As Head Student, my role includes chairing the Student Council and acting as a role model for my peers in terms of behaviour, attitude, and uniform. I am committed to supporting academy events throughout the year, such as open evenings and options evenings, as well as contributing to maintaining a positive environment during lunchtimes.
Through regular updates, assemblies, and tutor time, I aim to keep our community informed and inspired by the work of our councils and leadership team. Together, we can continue to make The Birley Academy a supportive, inclusive, and thriving place for all.
