This funding is designed to help improve the educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children can often face additional challenges in terms of reaching their potential at school and may not perform as well as their peers.
Pupil premium funding is allocated according to:
Each academy in L.E.A.D. Academy Trust adheres to the DfE guidance for school leaders ‘Using pupil premium – guidance for school leaders’. In addition, each academy strives to follow the key principles, findings and recommendations set out by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF). The EEF is an independent charitable organisation set up to improve the educational attainment of the poorest pupils in English schools.
Leaders at L.E.A.D. Academy Trust ensure that they make use of the EEF tiered approach to pupil premium spending. This is to make sure that there is a wide range of strategies in use to further improve teaching, targeted academic support, and other whole school strategies such as attendance or extra-curricular activities.
