The Curriculum Offer

We structure learning to excite our students’ curiosity and to inspire them to become successful lifelong independent learners. We also aim to broaden their horizons by adding new challenges and opportunities while they are here.

Years 7 and 8

During their first two years with us students follow the national curriculum, building on our close collaboration with our Primary schools, developing their skills and experiences. We build our learning around personal learning and thinking skills, so that students not only learn the necessary subject skills, but they also learn how to learn.

Years 9 to 11

During Year 9 our students start to prepare for their examination courses, choosing their pathway choices and studying their subjects in more depth. All students will take the core examination subjects of English, Maths and Science while also having the opportunity to study a modern foreign language and a humanities, alongside a range of practical and vocational subjects. We also value Personal, Social and Health Education and all students will get the opportunity to do a work experience.

At 16 virtually all our students move into further education, training or employment. We have very close relationships with Sheffield College and our local Sixth Form Schools, ensuring that students have a good transition at 16 onto courses which will bring them success. We also work closely with both Sheffield University and Sheffield Hallam University, helping our students to understand what opportunities lie ahead of them.
